Alasdair is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects. He started his career in 1991 on Lloyds Register’s Graduate Training Scheme and spent years working with all different types of marine vehicles, from hovercraft to semi-subs, all around the world. Alasdair moved to be Certification Manager for the Certification Services Department of AEA Technology in March 1997: the department which ultimately became HPiVS. Alasdair spent a short time as Business Development Manager at ABS before becoming a founding member of the CEproof group of CE marking consultants in 2001. In 2010 Alasdair sold CEproof and bought the AEA department which was renamed HPiVS. The company has been growing at a rate of 22% per annum ever since. Alasdair sits on a variety of different British and International Standards committees and is Chair of the EU Commission’s (RSG) Technical sub-committee that provides the EU with guidelines for the design & construction of recreational craft and components.
As the name suggests, Jacquie runs the the non-technical aspects of the business including finances and human resources. She has a number of qualifications relating to auditing and personnel management that are put to good use in HPiVS. She has been working with CEO, Alasdair Reay, since 2006 and is equally responsible for building HPiVS into the business it is today.

The Pressure & Machinery Team
Matteo is a Chartered Engineer with 15 years of experience in the Pressure Equipment Directive industry from coordination to Project Management. Since 2002, he has served as a Technical Co-ordinator and Assistant Technical Manager for PED services at Velosi Certification – Applus Group. He joined HPiVS in 2012 with the role of Principal Engineer for Pressure Equipment Certification/CE Compliance.
Toby is a chartered mechanical engineer, with several years’ experience of pressure systems, having worked for Atkins and Foster Wheeler. Toby also qualified and practised as a solicitor, before returning to engineering. He joined HPiVS in 2015. In his spare time Toby enjoys gardening and going for walks in the countryside, especially when the destination is a pub.
The Marine Team
Maria is a European Engineer (EUR ING) and Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA). She has had various jobs in the Marine Industry until she started working for an Inspection Body (IusAvant-Atisae) in 2003, where she focused on consultancy and inspection of recreational craft. During the last 4 years in IusAvant Maria was in charge of developing the company procedures in applying for accreditation as a Notified Body under the Recreational Craft Directive, achieving the Notification by the Spanish Government in 2009. She joined HPiVS as Technical Manager in 2013 where she carries out plans reviews/approvals of boats and components, she coordinates HPiVS Authorized inspectors worldwide. Recently she has been appointed as HPiVS Quality Manager.
Alex is the newest recruit joining HPiVS in early 2017. Alex comes with experience across a range of areas in the marine sector. Before studying BEng Yacht Production & Surveying at Southampton Solent University, Alex completed his RYA Yachtmaster Ocean training and went off to work on Superyachts gaining much valuable knowledge and experience. Since completing his studies in Southampton in 2011 Alex has worked for some household names in the industry such as Discovery Yachts, MST Ltd and Sunseeker Int. where he was involved with boats varying from 6m RIBs, 57fft sailing yacht, 101ft motor yacht all the way up Sunseeker’s 155ft being part of the design, compliance and testing.
Outside of the office Alex is often found training for half marathons, still trying to break the 1hr 30min, baking, at race tracks supporting his father or travelling to new places far and wide.
