Alasdair is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects. He started his career in 1991 on Lloyds Register’s Graduate Training Scheme and spent years working with all different types of marine vehicles, from hovercraft to semi-subs, all around the world. Alasdair moved to be Certification Manager for the Certification Services Department of AEA Technology in March 1997: the department which ultimately became HPi-CEproof. Alasdair spent a short time as Business Development Manager at ABS before becoming a founding member of the CEproof group of CE marking consultants in 2001. In 2010 Alasdair sold CEproof and bought the AEA department which had been renamed HPi Verification Services. The company has been growing considerably ever since. In September 2019, Alasdair oversaw the merger of HPiVS and CEproof to become HPi-CEproof. Alasdair sits on a variety of different British and International Standards committees and is Chair of the EU Commission’s (RSG) Technical sub-committee that provides the EU with guidelines for the design & construction of recreational craft and components.
After qualifying as a Marine Engineer in 1989, Craig began a career in the marine industry by founding ‘The Prop Shop’, repairing propellers . Having sold The Prop Shop, Craig spent 5 years in retail of marine products of all kinds but mostly boats and engines. In 1996 Craig joined Yamaha Motor UK Marine Division, responsible for sale of engines and personal watercraft. After 6 years with Yamaha, Craig returned to company ownership, opening a yacht brokerage in Norfolk in 2003. Craig bought-into CEproof in 2004 and has been CE marking ever-since. In 2010 became sole-owner of CEproof Group until the merger with HPi in 2019. Away from work Craig’s passion is diving and underwater photography. At his happiest surrounded by sharks, rays and dolphins, if Craig is out of the office he probably underwater.
As the name suggests, Jacquie runs the the non-technical aspects of the business including finances and human resources. She has a number of qualifications relating to auditing and personnel management that are put to good use in HPiVS. She has been working with CEO, Alasdair Reay, since 2006 and is equally responsible for building HPiVS into the business it is today.

The Pressure & Machinery Team
Matteo is a Chartered Engineer with 15 years of experience in the Pressure Equipment Directive industry from coordination to Project Management. Since 2002, he has served as a Technical Co-ordinator and Assistant Technical Manager for PED services at Velosi Certification – Applus Group. He joined HPiVS in 2012 with the role of Principal Engineer for Pressure Equipment Certification/CE Compliance.
Toby is a chartered mechanical engineer, with several years’ experience of pressure systems, having worked for Atkins and Foster Wheeler. Toby also qualified and practised as a solicitor, before returning to engineering. He joined HPiVS in 2015. In his spare time Toby enjoys gardening and going for walks in the countryside, especially when the destination is a pub.
The Marine Team
Maria is a European Engineer (EUR ING) and Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA). She has had various jobs in the Marine Industry until she started working for an Inspection Body (IusAvant-Atisae) in 2003, where she focused on consultancy and inspection of recreational craft, and was in charge of developing the company procedures in applying for accreditation as a Notified Body under the Recreational Craft Directive. She joined HPiVS as Technical Manager in 2013 where she carries out plans reviews/approvals of boats and components, she coordinates HPiVS Authorized inspectors worldwide. Maria is also HPi-CEproof Quality Manager.
Becky first enjoyed the boating world as an Outdoor Instructor, teaching children to sail dinghies. From there she joined CEproof Group in 2014 as an apprentice, where she earned a Diploma in Yacht and Small Craft Surveying. As a CEproof employee she gained experience as a consultant and expanded her knowledge of the industry working with boat builders all over the world.
Outside of the office Becky enjoys walks in the countryside with her dog and having adventures in the family campervan.
